In data representations, we use different representation for each type of data like for integers we use signed magnitude or Unsigned magnitude, for floating Point numbers we use IEEE754 representations,

Similar way for characters we have different representation like ASCII,EBCDIC and UNICODE

In this ASCII(American Standard Code for Information Interchange) is a 7 bit character representation which can represent 27 (128   characters )
