11. How does associative memory differ from regular memory? Which is more expensive and why?

Answer

  • The regular memory is used to find a data black for search all of cache memory. It takes time and sufficient results not found. But the associative memory is used parallel search. So, the associative memory is so useful to search should analize the requested tag to all in cache if data block is find.
  • The associative memory is little bit expensive. The reason is that it requires special hardware for associtive searching, but the regular memory is not require hardware more.
