Question

Lab 1: Creating a Webpage from a Template and Using Placeholder Text
Problem: You work for a local but rapidly growing gardening supply company that specializes in products to support food self-sufficiency. The company has identified a small number of extremely successful products that they want to market through a website and have hired you to get started. Create the webpage shown in Figure 1–53b that identifies the type of content you want to include on the company’s home page. In later chapters, you will replace the placeholders with actual text and images.

Instructions: Perform the following tasks:
1. If you created the template01.html file in the Apply Your Knowledge exercise in this chapter, open template01.html and then save it with the name cityfarmer.html in the            chapter01\   lab1 folder provided with the Data Files for Students. If you did not create the template01.html  file, enter the required HTML tags as shown in
Figure 1–53a and then save the file with the name cityfarmer.html in the chapter01\   lab1 folder provided with the Data Files for Students.
2. Enter the text City Farmer Home Page within the <title> … </title> tags.
3. Within the body section, add the following content using six sets of paragraph tags. At this point, the content consists of six placeholder paragraphs that you will replace            with actual  webpage content in a later chapter.
      <p>Clear Navigation Bar</p>
      <p>Company Description and Featured Products</p>
      <p>How to Contact Us</p>
      <p>News and Events</p>
      <p>Customer Interaction – Call to Action</p>
      <p>Home Page Images</p>
4. Add an <hr> tag after each of the closing paragraph tags to insert a horizontal line after each paragraph.
5. Indent the code and content within the head and body sections to make each section distinct and readable.
6. Add a comment after the opening <!DOCTYPE html> statement that contains your name and the current date.
7. Check the spelling of the text within the title and body tags, as shown in Figure 1–53a.
8. Save the page and then open it in a browser, as shown in Figure 1–53b.
9. Submit your assignment in the format specified by your instructor.
10. The term placeholder refers to any area of a webpage that you want to reserve for a particular purpose. A webpage developer will often use text or image placeholders when designing webpages, especially if actual content is not yet available. Using your favorite search engine, search to find three different reasons to use webpage  placeholders.
