Question

(Compute the volume of a cylinder) Write a program that reads in the radius and length of a cylinder and computes the area and volume using the following formulas:

area = radius * radius * π
volume = area * length

Here is a sample run:

Answer

Executable code:

# Prompt the user to enter a radius
radius,length=eval(input("Enter the radius and length of a cylinder: "))

# Calculate the area
area = radius * radius * 3.14159

#Display the area
print("The area is ",round(area,4))

#Calculate the volume
volume = area * length

# Calculate volume
print("The volume is ",round(volume,1))

Output:

Python 3.2.1 (default, Jul 10 2011, 21:51:15) [MSC v.1500 32 bit (Intel)] on win32
