3. Improving the Design of the Dog Hall of Fame Website
Research and Collaboration
Part 1:
In Chapter 9, you added a video to the Dog Hall of Fame website. In this exercise, you
update the site to include social media and JavaScript. Do the following activities as a group:
1. Open the external style sheet you created in Chapter 9 and save it with the name dogstyles10.css in the styles folder within the your_turn_3 folder.
2. Add your names and the current date as a comment to the first line of the dogstyles10.css file.
3. Open the files you created for the Dog Hall of Fame in Chapter 9 in your HTML editor and
make sure your names and the current date are added as a comment to the first line of all files.
4. Modify the link to the external style sheet to reference dogstyles10.css.
5. Discuss the best social media options for your website and integrate at least two. At a minimum, update the HTML page to do the following:
a. Add social media icons to every page.
b. Include links to the social media home page.
6. Update the CSS file to:
a. Style the social media icons.
b. Add comments to note all changes and updates.
7. Create an external JavaScript file and do the following:
a. Create at least two functions on the page.
b. Link the page to the appropriate HTML webpage(s).
c. Call each function from an HTML webpage.
d. Add comments to note all functions and team members.
8. Save and test your files.
9. Validate and correct your HTML and CSS files, and submit your assignment in the format specified by your instructor.
Part 2:
As a group, research other ways to use JavaScript within your website and summarize your findings.
