What is the largest binary number that can be expressed with 16 bits? What are the equivalent decimal and hexadecimal numbers?

Answer

The largest binary number would be when all the 16bits are 1

                 (1111 1111 1111 1111)₂ = 65535₁₀

           Calculation for largest binary number with k bits by (2^k)-1.

                (2^16)-1 = 65536 – 1

                                =65535

          65535 is the decimal number and

         (FFFF)₁₆ is the hexadecimal number for the above binary number.
