Answer

CLOCK CYCLE :

  • In computers, the clock cycle is the amount of time between two pulses of an oscillator.
  • It is a single increment of the central processing unit (CPU) clock during which the smallest unit of processor activity is carried out.
  • The clock cycle helps in determining the speed of the CPU, as it is considered the basic unit of measuring how fast an instruction can be executed by the computer processor.
  • A clock cycle is also known as a clock tick.

CLOCK FREQUENCY:

  • Clock frequency is also known as clock speed .
  •  The clock rate or clock speed typically refers to the frequency at which the clock generator of a processor can generate pulses, which are used to synchronize the operations of its components, and is used as an indicator of the processor's speed.

Difference between clock cycles and clock frequency is

As clock cycle is a single period of an oscillating clock signal. Clock speed, rate, and frequency are used to describe the same thing: the number of clock cycles per second, measured in Hertz (Hz).
