A transistor is an electronic device which is used as a basic building block of any computer hardware. The computer hardware has several chips, which consist of transistors, resistors, capacitors and inductors, etc.  The transistors are used to design the different logic gates.

The relationship between the transistors and gates is that the logic gates are constructed with transistors.
