Question

Consider Figure 5.15. Suppose that all links are 100 Mbps. What is the maxi- mum total aggregate throughput that can be achieved among the 9 hosts and 2 servers in this network? You can assume that any host or serrver can send to any other host or server. Why?

Answer

Consider the following Figure 5.15 data in the question:
Each link capacity =100 Mbps.
Rs=Server Rate =100

Rc=Host rate =100

Total hosts        = 9
Total servers      = 2
Total number of nodes = Total hosts+ Total servers
                      = 9+2
                      = 11
\large Throughput \: \: of \: \: each\: \: link= min\left ( \left \{ Rs,Rc \right \}\right )

\large Throughput \: of \: each\: link= min\left ( \left \{ 100,100 \right \}\right )

\large =100Mbps

\large The\: maxi- mum\: total \: aggregate\:throughput= Total nodes\times capacity

\large The\: maxi- mum\: total \: aggregate\:throughput= 11\times 100

\large =1100Mbps

Assume that any host or serrver can send to any other host or server by using star topology. The reason is that, It is used to very node can communicate with other nodes in the network by a central router.
