Question

With HTTP streaming, are the TCP receive buffer and the client’s application buffer the same thing? If not, how do they interact?

Answer

The TCP receive buffer and the client’s application buffer are different with HTTP(Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) streaming.

The following steps are used to interact with the receive buffer and the client’s application buffer:

  • First, the video is saved in the server location as an ordinary file. It is given as an URL link.
  • If the client wants a video, then establishes a TCP connection with the server.
  • It sends a HTTP GET request to server, then server sends the video file through server socket.
  • The client takes the video and plays them on screen.
